Sharp Magazine Features Anderson’s, Blue Industry & Walk-Over

by Gotstyle in Press on May 7th, 2013 Discussion

We obviously love the products/brands we carry, but nothing trumps the feeling we get when other people love them just as much as us. Anderson’s Belts, Blue Industry and Walk-Over shoes are all recent additions to our stores. We introduced these brands because they align so well with our Gotstyle guys needs. Each one offers high-quality craftsmanship with a modern twist. So when Canada’s leading men’s magazine Sharp Book For Men decided to feature all three brands in their latest issue, we were ecstatic!

Featured in their Style Manual for Spring/Summer 2013, you can catch our belts from Anderson’s, our brushed cotton polkadot shirt by Blue Industry and last but not least, some great words of wisdom from Walk-Over General Manager James Rowley.

Are we Toronto’s Neighbourhood Gem? #shopsmall

by Gotstyle in General, Press on April 11th, 2013 Discussion

We recently had the pleasure of being inducted into Amex Canada’s #ShopSmall campaign and are so excited to hear about their latest initiative. Amex Canada is looking for Toronto’s Neighbourhood Gem to help celebrate the importance of shopping small and shopping local.

Gotstyle has been dedicated to the Toronto landscape for over 8 years. So much so, that in 2004 we were one of the only men’s only boutiques in Canada. We saw a need within the men’s market and forged forward to meet that need. Our amazing relationship with our community allowed us to be the first to launch Skype shopping in Canada, expand with a brand new store in the Distillery District, and do fun things like the Naked Man campaign and now video game. Oh, did we mention that we’ve been working on launching an online store? Shhh…lets keep that one between us.

Bottom line is that none of this would’ve been possible if not for the incredible support of our community. And with any small business having and active community is so crucial to our success, which is why we really admire the #ShopSmall initiative by Amex Canada and hope that you will take a few mins to vote for your favorite Toronto Neighbourhood Gem.

The first round of voting takes place April 2 – 21 & every time you vote, up to once a day, you have the chance to win a $50 American Express® Gift Card

Gotstyle’s Naked Man Goes 8Bit

by Gotstyle in General, Press, Promotions on April 8th, 2013 Discussion

Today marks the official launch of the Gotstyle Naked Man Online Video Game! Softlaunched last December, today’s wide release comes on the heels of our Grand Opening party celebrating Gotstyle’s new store in the Distillery district, the second location in Toronto and the first to cater to both men and women.

The Naked Man video game is a throwback to the popular 8bit video games of the 1980s mixing elements of PacMan and Donkey Kong and rooted in the provocative and comedic theme of the Naked Man campaign, which was launched last fall. The risqué transmedia
campaign promotes Gotstyle’s innovative video shopping service the first of its kind shopping service in North America.

The campaign and video game concept, conceived and produced by Toronto’s integrated innovation agency Dorsey/Holme Experience, debuted with a YouTube video featuring a naked man on a balcony, video shopping via his smartphone with Melissa herself. The story, showing the man in dire need of clothes, ends with a twist, and ultimately a happy ending. Promoted to Gotstyle’s social media and enewsletter followers, the video went viral notching over 500,000 views to date.

“We had so much success with the Naked Man video that we wanted a fun and cheeky way to keep guys engaged with our brand and continue to increase awareness for our video shopping service. The online video game does just that,” says Melissa Austria.

The Naked Man online video game also features a promotional component. Gamers can earn ballots, by winning and sharing their score on Facebook, valid for a chance to WIN weekly prizing from Gotstyle and eligibility for the annual grand prize of an all expense paid night out in Tdot with the Gotstyle crew.

Recap: The Pantone Party presented by Gotstyle

by Gotstyle in Press on April 3rd, 2013 Discussion

Aside from being known for our clothes, we’d like to think that we know a thing or two about throwing some awesome parties. So, when we announced that we were ready to celebrate the grand opening of Gotstyle Distillery, having a celebration only seemed fitting. With over 7000 square foot retail space our new The Distillery District location was the perfect venue. As for the theme, we went pantone! In celebration of spring, latest fashion trends and our sheer love of colour, going pantone was the only logical choice.
And we all know, no fashion party is complete without some great food, music, alcohol, and fashion show! We had cocktails by Martini Club sponsored by Belvedere, Moet, Hennessy and Glenmorangie. Food was catered by Treeline, who incorporated our theme into their fresh and colourful hors d’oeuvres menue which included chilled shrimp, seared tuna, gazpacho, white chocolate dipped strawberries and french macaroons. Music was provided by DJ Matt Bryce from House Of Class, and our Spring fashion show featured both mens and womens spring looks available at Gotstyle.
With over 400 guests in attendance from top clients, key members of the media, tastemakers, and bloggers, this party not only featured some of the best dressed people in the city but as one guest put it served as “the official start of Spring”.
