What’s New: Spring Sweaters By Stones, Zanerobe & John Varvatos

by Gotstyle in New Arrivals on March 14th, 2013 Discussion

Spring is one of the trickets times of the year, because on any given day the weather can go from comfortable patio weather to sub-zero. So, how does one prepare for weather so unpredictable?! Aside from owning some great outerwear pieces, sweaters are a definite must-have during this season. For those colder days you can layer them with t-shirts and dress shirts and for those warmer days you can just simply wear them on their own. Nothing is quite as versatile as a great sweater in your wardrobe. Here are some great colourful examples from Stones, Zanerobe and John Varvatos.

Stones: Safi Slim Fit V-Neck Sweater: $178

What’s New: Fall Sweaters from Marshall Artist, Gsus, Horst, and John Varvatos

by Courtney in New Arrivals on September 10th, 2012 Discussion

Marshall Artist button-up cardigan $225.

As Canadians, our appreciation for sweaters is strong. We wear them for the majority of the year, so we need variety, details, and quality. The sweater selection for this fall is already looking great with lots of knits and retro details.

This Marshall Artist button-up sweater is my favourite, it’s a jacket in the fall, a sweater in the winter, and the details give it a very rustic Canadian feel.

What’s New: Sweaters from Farah, PYA, and SAND

by Courtney in New Arrivals on August 23rd, 2012 Discussion

Farah grey sweater $115, Farah striped sweater $120.

The mercury is back in summer temperatures today, but sweater season is still right around the corner. There’s two reasons why the thin knit sweaters need a place in every man’s closet: early fall’s mild temperatures, and layering up  in the later fall/winter.

Here’s our first round of thin knits. They won’t break the bank, but they will give you a brighter fall and transition you through to next spring.

Four Sweaters You Need in Your Closet Now!

by Melissa in Trend Watch on December 8th, 2011 Discussion

Phil Petter $450, Marshall Artist $150, Ted Baker $350.

1. The Macho Sweater – Sure, sweaters can be soft and cuddly (see luxury sweaters) but the new breed of sweaters are rugged and uber-masculine with leather details, chunkier knits that say “I’m man enough that I don’t need a jacket”, and shawl collar styling. Wear them layered over a plaid or check shirt for a sexy lumberjack look.

Farah $150, Suit $235, Drykorn $365.

2. The Holiday Sweater – Get in the Holiday spirit with a patterned sweater, we’re not talking ugly christmas sweater but vintage inspired patterns and designs (GQ just did a spread on them in this month’s issue). Perfect for casual Christmas parties, weekday bar nights and hanging out by the fireplace watching the snow fall.

PYA $198, Psycho Bunny $195.

3. The Fine Gauge Knit Sweater – sophisticated, clean and very modern. The fine guage sweater will help breath new life into your closet full of shirts, wear them layered under a jacket to give you a pop of color or on it’s own. The new trim fits men you’ll never look boxy, no matter what your size.

Toscano $275, Oats $295.

4. The Luxury Sweater – Nothing says “love” more than cashmere; either the love you give yourself or the love from someone else. It’s like wrapping yourself in a warm hug all day long. But just because it’s luxury doesn’t mean it’s high-brow, wear your cashmere where you would have worn your sweatshirt on the weekends.

What’s New: Sweaters

by Gotstyle in New Arrivals on November 18th, 2011 Discussion

Michael Kors hoodies $350

We’ve covered the latest and greatest in fall jackets, suits, trousers and today we touch upon one of the most quintessential fall essentials: sweaters. Whether you prefer the classic jumper, pull over, or cardigan there are plenty options catering to any man’s style. Let’s start with these ever versatile Derby hoodies from Michael Kors. Made from a blend of cashmere/nylon/spandex these hoodies are not only comfortable but make for a great basic for your everyday casual wardrobe.

Ted Baker sweaters (left) $250, (right) $200

For those of you looking for something a bit more professional, we offer these great options from Ted Baker. These pieces are light, thin, and ideal for layering. When you’re in an office meeting, temperature can get difficult and the last thing you want is to start a strip show because your body is overheating. These sweaters offer the right amount of warmth without sending your body into thermal overload. They can be worn alone or paired under a nice tweed or corduroy blazer.

Phil Petter cable-knit sweater $450

Chunky cable knit sweaters are the pinocale when it comes to keeping you warm and cozy, short of looking like an eskimo. In my opinion sweaters like this are great for layering when doing outdoor activities. Whether your hitting up Niagara’s wine country for the last time this season or taking stroll by the harbourfront, having a chunky cable knit sweater is the smartest thing you could wear either on its own or under a jacket.

MINEDRD pacman sweater $150

Now for a little fun.  Having a sweater with an emblazoned Sanata Clause may prove to be comical, having teenage mutant ninja turtles on your sweater may prove to be juvinile, but, having Pac-Man on your sweater is just brilliant. The only other thing in my opinion that rivals Pac-man is either Space Invader or Tetris and neither of those games has ever received a bad wrap. So if you are looking to be a little different and express your youthful enthusiasm for the season owning this  MINEDRD pacman sweater is exactly what you need to do.

Phil Petter sweater $450, Marshall Artist sweater $150, Ted Baker sweater $350

With all the options we’ve shown you thus far layering has definitely been the secondary objective. For the most part most of the items we’ve featured are meant to be worn on their own, so what happens if you are someone like me that LOVES to layer? Dont’ worry these options from Ted Baker, Phil Petter, and Marshall Artist will help scratch that itch. These 3 options are great for layering, so feel free to pull out that dress shirt, vest, tie, scarf and layer away. Use these items as casual outerwear or layered under your coat, either way the options for mixing and matching are endless!

Canterbury of New Zealand cashmere sweater $450

This last option is something for that guy that has everything. Mixing a little bit of casual (sweatshirt style) with formal (cashmere) this sweater adds a nice twist the conventional and will be the most cozy item in your closet.
