Gotstyle Included in Ben Mulroney’s Toronto

by Courtney in Press on December 3rd, 2011 Discussion

Frequent Gotstyle customer and eTalk host Ben Mulroney was interviewed by BlogTO this past weekend, he shared some of his favourite spots in Toronto. Included in his list was Gotstyle, as one of his favourite menswear stores. You can check out the full interview to learn where Ben likes to brunch, and what his favourite neighbourhoods are here.

Here’s a quick note from the interview where he comments on finding good menswear in the city:

As a television host, you always need to look sharp. Men’s fashion retail in Toronto is often maligned. What’s your take on it?

I disagree. I think anything you want can be found in Toronto. GotstyleHolt’sHarry Rosen are just the tip of the iceberg – take a stroll down Queen West and you’ll find every possible label for every possible taste.

Gotstyle in Where Essential Magazine (x3!)

by Courtney in Press on November 16th, 2011 Discussion

Where Magazine has released their Essential magazine annually, filled with Toronto’s can’t-miss restaurants, events, shops, and neighbourhood guides. Whether you’re visiting the city, or are lucky enough to be a local, it’s filled with great places to visit. Including us.

Not once, but thrice we’re featured in the 2011-2012 Where Essential Toronto guide. Dapper Canadian men Jian Ghomeshi and Cameron Bailey both gave us shoutouts as their favourite clothing store, along with being included in the Downtown West neighbourhood guide.

We’re proud to be included in the neighbourhood with other great establishments, such as The Thompson Hotel and Scarpetta, JacFlash, and The Drake.

Not to mention, we’re extremely happy to have these fine gentlemen come to us for their style needs.

“The Gotstyle Club” in the Toronto Star today!

by Courtney in Press on November 15th, 2011 Discussion

The Toronto Star featured our Gotstyle Club party in today’s paper, saying:

This was the look of the 600-strong crowd fashioned Saturday night in a warehouse club space behind Century Room on King St. W. for the Gotstyle party: young, professional and nicely polished.

“These are not the usual clubbing suspects,” says Melissa Austria, owner of Gotstyle. “We throw these parties because I love to see men dressed up, and my customers keep telling me there is nowhere to go.”

It was definitely a very, very good looking party. If you missed out, visit our Facebook page to see the pictures! To read the article, click the photo below:

Jian Ghomeshi in Gotstyle for the Giller Prize

by Courtney in Press on November 14th, 2011 Discussion

Jian Ghomeshi hosted the 2011 Scotiabank Giller Prize gala on Tuesday, November 8th. The Giller Prize is Canada’s most distinguished literary award, awarding $50,000 annually to the finalist. This year’s finalist was Esi Edugyan who wrote her second novel Half-Blood Blues about jazz musicians in Europe during the Second World War.

Jian stopped by to pick up a Drykorn tuxedo (after much debate on whether he should do a suit or a tux, we were pushing for the tux), Stenstroms tuxedo shirt with studs, Ted Baker patent shoes and a Dion bowtie. To see more fashionable guests, visit The Star’s photo gallery.

by Courtney in New Arrivals, Press on November 11th, 2011 Discussion

Bundling up in Canadian outerwear doesn’t mean you’re limited to Moose Knuckles. If you’re shopping for a wool coat, we’ve got one from Canadian brand Bustle priced at $650. It’s got pockets, leather detailing and a very slim fit making it flattering and perfect for wearing over suits. For more Canadian outerwear options in Toronto, check out this article in The Star. What country knows more about keeping warm than Canada?
