What’s New: Culturata, Made in Italy

by Melissa in New Arrivals on February 4th, 2012 Discussion

Culturata launched their made-in-Italy line of sophisticated, contemporary menswear in 2008.

Their tailored fit, use of sustainable fabrics and ethical production methods have made them a well-known and loved brand. Each item is created in Rome, living up to the “sartorial, artisanal, sustainable” promise. Definitely a shirt that will make you feel like a boss, not just look like one.

For Spring 2012, Culuturata introduced a simple yet sophisticated collection with a fresh and understandable approach to men’s fashion. It’s all about vintage micro neat patterns, luxurious soft plaids, and the new short button down collar. Shirts are priced in the $175 – 185 area.

What’s New: Tiger of Sweden

by Melissa in New Arrivals on February 3rd, 2012 Discussion

I decided to push the envelope with Tiger of Sweden this season, while we’ll always have their slim basic suits and tuxedos in stock, I wanted to show some of their high fashion items at their fashionable low prices (the Swedes and Danes are best at this).

This super short and trim mini houndstooth suit with wide peaked lapel is priced at $795. Slim fit dress shirt with fashion short collar (perfect for those skinny ties) $165, available in white, black, beige and light blue.

Extreme Couch Surfing Clothes

by Melissa in New Arrivals on January 25th, 2012 Discussion

Superbowl is around the corner, it’s prime hockey season, and basketball is back. You know what that means: it’s time to bunker down for some serious couch time.

Even if you’re at your sloth best, you don’t have to look like a total slob. Couchwear that looks good has its advantages: your other half won’t nag you as much and you’ll look decent for surprise ex-drop-ins or run-ins with the hottie neighbour during a chip run.

My favourite, Gypsy 05 (above) was launched by a brother and sister team. They use super soft and airy fabrics, exclusive dye techniques, all made in a solar powered LA studio. Reversible knit lounge pants and hoodies are perfect for couch surfing and way better than this (see eye-sore on the right):

Other great couch surfing ideas:

  • Ted Baker cozy fleece zip up in navy, $250
  • Oats cashmere hoodie in charcoal and blue, $295 (perfect for cuddling on the couch as well either by yourself or with someone else!)
  • John Varvatos knit hoodie in black, $298

What’s New: The Essential Camel Coat

by Melissa in New Arrivals on January 18th, 2012 Discussion

The must have item in every style magazine this year and last, was the camel coat. Tailored, sophisticated and always in style, the camel coat is experiencing a resurgence. More elegant than a black overcoat (and at least you don’t look like every other guy out there), the color also lends itself to both business and business casual dressing.

We have a beautiful camel hair coat with pick stitch detailing for $795 by Paul Betenly that looks very similar to the Dior Homme camel coat that retails for $2,500 (on the right).

What’s New: Adidas SLVR

by Melissa in New Arrivals on January 10th, 2012 Discussion

Leather jacket in black or beige $750.

I saw the ADIDAS SLVR collection at a trade show in New York and I immediately fell in love with its sleek, innovative, and modern styling. I love that it’s designed by fashion designer Dirk Schöenberger (of his own line and JOOP), and uses ADIDAS’s manufacturing capabilities to offer high fashion at accessible price points (Never could understand how innovative fashion was never affordable to the fashionista’s who covet it).

Black pants $115.

ADIDAS SLVR has redefined casualwear, carving out a niche for innovative pieces that match the pace of 21st-century lives.

Through residing at the intersection of comfort, technology, and luxury, this line combines style and function in intriguing new ways that are designed for life on the move.

Belted blazer $350.

What’s New: CROSSLEY Sweaters From Italy

by Melissa in New Arrivals on January 9th, 2012 Discussion

One thing I hate about about retail is that as soon January comes everyone starts shipping you Spring product and your selling floor becomes awash with soft colors, light weight fabrics and shorts!

I know the weather has been amazing so far, but we are in Canada, WE WILL get a dumping of snow sometime from now until April. And if you’re like me, I hate shopping sale, everything is picked over, you can never find your size and I always want new, shiny, nicely merchandised clothes to choose from.

Left: Wool sweater $195

Striped sweaters, $225 each.

So for shoppers like me, we’ve brought in a beautiful collection of sweaters from Italy that are a great transition from now until when Spring really arrives. This Italian-made collection uses different yarns, old style hand finishes, and beautiful detailing mixed with modern styling. Prices range from $195 to $495.

Wool v-neck sweaters $175 each.

Grey sweater $225, blue and green sweater $195, grey cardigan $325.
